Local resident Brian C. Krill, owner of Peak Education and Consulting LLC, has been awarded a workshop
presentation at the Association for Experiential Education’s (AEE) Rocky Mountain regional conference,
“Experiential Educators: who do you want to be?”, which will be held in Albuquerque, NM February 20-22,
2009.
The Association for Experiential Education is a nonprofit, professional membership organization
dedicated to experiential education and the students, educators and practitioners who utilize its
philosophy. Mr. Krill’s workshop titled “Leadership that Works” will present research linking
emotional intelligence, leadership styles and results in the nonprofit workplace. This workshop
will explore how to apply the research to practical leadership roles for experiential educators,
program directors, or executive directors. The workshop will discuss the relative effectiveness
of leadership styles in different settings, and with regards to different situations. This workshop
will also explore how a leader’s emotional intelligence may affect his or her ability to employ
different leadership styles. This workshop will prepare participants to be more effective leaders
in the world of experiential education, no matter what leadership role they play. The workshop
will also show that great leaders are “made” not “born”. The workshop will discuss and present
strategies for enhancing emotional intelligence and the use of different leadership styles.
